I Love My Stalker!

My best friend aka Stalker, Kasey, over at Thoughts from Me, is having a baby GIRL! I was so honored and blessed to be a part of their wonderful day via the internet when they found out the gender. Kasey is in North Carolina and I'm in Oklahoma. The place she had her ultrasound done gave her the option to stream their ultrasound online to a select few people and I was privileged to be able to join them.

How Kasey and I became best friends is very interesting. Our friendship is truly a gift from God. It was August 2001 and I had just discovered the Yahoo Domino Game room. I would go there between classes at college to unwind. I wasn't there to meet anybody, but to just play a few mindless games. Well everyday I logged in Kasey was there also. We would always end up playing against each other and chatting. When we paired up as partners nobody else could beat us. We spent hours in those game rooms getting to know each other.

For years we were strictly online friends with the occasional card sent via snail mail. Then in November 2007 I made the trip to North Carolina to be the matron of honor in Kasey's wedding. We had NEVER met in person before this time. There were lots of jokes back and forth of Kasey's stalker coming to town. We were both excited and nervous about meeting each other face to face. It was a wonderful week and I was happy to go home to my family, but sad to be leaving my NC family behind.

Here it is 2011 and Kasey and I still haven't seen each other face to face since her wedding. We are constantly messaging, texting, emailing, or facebooking each other. I'm so excited that Kasey & her husband Jamie are having a baby. They are a wonderful couple and deserve all the happiness in the world.

So, now that my GIRL prediction came true. I'm going to predict that this little girl will be born a few days early on my birthday, November 21st!  By the way...everybody including Kasey predicted boy.

Looks like I may have to plan a birthday trip to NC!

Hmmm...I think a new baby quilt will be in the works soon.

 I love you Kasey!

New Line Dance from the Choreographer of GLEE

Here is a little history about me. I used to be an avid dancer. I practiced all the time. I woke up and walked through my dance steps, got ready for school while practicing, came home from school to dance out my frustrations, eat dinner then practice some more, take a shower and walk through my routine again before bed. I practiced so much because I always felt like I wasn't good enough in class. All the other girls grew up dancing and I didn't start until I was 12.

Fast forward 20+ yrs. I haven't danced since I was a teenager. I married a man with 2 left feet and there wasn't a dance studio near where we live. So I just closed that part of my life and moved on until a month ago.

Zach Woodlee, is the choreographer/co-producer of Glee. He is also the son of my former dance teacher Vicki Woodlee. Zach is a few years younger than me, but he could dance circles around all of us even when he was a kid! He was always good at wowing the crowd with his moves. Well he created this new line dance to use on the show and they showed just a short clip of the dance on the episode "Blame It On The Alcohol." So, with Zach's permission, his mother called up her old dance students and decided we were all going to learn this line dance and we were going to debut it to the world.

Tuesday, June 21, 2011 the line dance the Texas Cool was debuted in Dallas outside the Music Hall at Fair Park.

I was so thrilled to be included in this opportunity. It has sparked my interest in dancing all over again.

BOM Catch Up - April

I have found that when I'm done with one block, then take the time to cut out pieces for the next block immediately then I tend to get more done when I have time. These blocks are going fast.

BOM Catch Up - March

Not sure if I'm liking these colors. I keep thinking I should have chose another fabric other than the green stripes. But I love the green stripes the best. Oh well this is just going to be a quilt for me so if nobody else likes it that's ok.

I've Been Busy....

...not sewing, but dancing...

I haven't danced in 20 yrs, but my oldest daughter and I will be dancing in this thanks to my old dance teacher Vicki Woodlee. Note: She's not old, but old as in she was my teacher when I was a kid/teenager and isn't anymore. Although if we lived closer I would defiantly sign up for her class again!

We will be taping our dance and uploading it to You Tube. I will post it as soon as it's up!

Quilt Show, Parade, & Concert

WARNING: This post is full of pictures of quilts!

My weekend was full! First I volunteered at our annual quilt show. My Baby Frog quilt got 2nd place!
I know you've seen these, but you haven't seen them hanging up. ;-)
Hubby's 20th Anniversary Quilt.
My 15 yr old daughter standing with her quilt.
These are some of the other quilts on display.
I love how the dolphins swim in a circle on this one. And she did a great job matching the seams with the pattern on the border.
Love the dresden's in this one!
 These bunnies were so cute!
Same type bunnies, but different fabric and layout.
My friend, Jannetta, made these next 3 quilts. She machine pieces and hand quilts most of her quilts. She's fast and good at hand quilting also! I need to have her teach me.

This was our parade entry for our quilt guild. We decided to cover a volkswagon in quilt squares!

Then on Sunday evening our little town had a special concert with Aaron Tippin singing at the football stadium! My youngest daughter and I enjoying the concert.
Tried to get a good picture of Aaron Tippin.

Whew! If you made it to the end of this post I applaude you!
